THE MARCHESANA WAY

The Marchesana-Francigena Way is an itinerary rich in history and culture that crosses four regions: Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Liguria and Tuscany.
A fascinating journey to be discovered slowly, stage after stage.

The points of departure and arrival are Pavia in Lombardy and Aulla in Tuscany.
It is ideally suited for walking, cycling or horse riding; it is possible to drive over most of the Marchesana Way in a car or small bus.

The Via Marchesana is a route that promotes a whole territory, an area of Italy in which to explore history and discover great works of art.

The Marchesana Way with its quiet beauty stretches from the evocative landscape along the Po river to the depths of the valleys of the Parma-Piacenza Apennines, passes through Liguria and arrives in welcoming Tuscany. Exploring this itinerary means taking a detour off the better-known Francigena route to immerse oneself in a varied environment that offers the opportunity for many different types of tourism - cultural, rural, linked to wine and food, as well as environmental, religious, sporting and educational tourism experiences.

Few areas in Italy can offer such an interesting variety of opportunities.
Come and discover it!
